Thomas the Train, or Thomas the Tank Engine as I knew him to be called, is a popular toy with the little ones these days. I know this from Kindergarten of course!
Anytime something new becomes popular or trendy, they start showing up at the sharing circle in my classroom. I consider myself an expert on current toy trends in the five to six year old range. Bahaha! That was extreme sarcasm. Most of the time, I look at their toys and how they beep, talk, move, flash and make noises, and am immediately transported back to the 80′s that were filled with Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears, and My Little Ponies. These toys didn’t beep, flash or make noise . . . YOU had to do that! Where has the immagination in current toy trends gone? Rant over. I guess I’m getting old, and old fashioned!
Anyway, Thomas the Tank engine . . . in the versions I have seen coming through my doors, require imagination and movement from the child! Yippee!
When we were asked to do a Thomas the Tank Engine cake matching the toy that Grandma Tammy had purchased for her special grandson’s first birthday, I immediately took upon the challenge . . . and the research!
The cake was a blast to make! Check it out from all sides here on our YouTube channel, CupcakesandCardio!
